Thumbnail bug is legitimate

Several other Sys Admins are experiencing the same behavior. The lead developer has deemed this a fix it yourself bug. He was not expecting people to upgrade large existing sites. I am waiting to see if someone else has time to write a script that will rename the existing thumbnails and update the appropriate table in the db.

Thumbnails from old image uploads

There is a very strange issue which only affects users who had blogs before the end of August. It seems that the update to the newer version of the software has “lost” the thumbnail images for uploaded photos. The thumbnails are still on the server but the upload browser doesn’t seem to know this. It is most likely an issue with .htaccess and Apache re-write rules. I have contacted the developers to see if there is an easy fix.

In the mean time you can edit the html of your posts and just add .thumbnail infront of the file extension.

Problem with Recent Posts

On the main blog there is a Recent Posts section in the left column. It would seem that the plugin responsible for pulling the recent posts has a problem with the Hello world! posts. For some reason it links all of these posts back to the main blog instead of the blog they are posted on. I’m talking with other developers to see if there is a solution. I think there is a different approach all together. It would be nice if we had a student that could look at the code with me.

Broken buttons in editor

It would appear that the bold, italic, strikethrough, bullet list, numbered list, subscript, and superscript buttons appear to be broken. I am in contact with the developer community to see if there is an easy fix. Until such time you can use the HTML button to view the source and add <code><b>, <i>, <ul>,<ol>,, </code> tags to get the desired output.

Bug fixed

It wasn’t a bug with WPMU but with a plugin. The sideblog plugin doesn’t play well with MU and was causing the multiple posts.

Another upgrade

We are now on r733. You shouldn’t notice a differnce between rc4 and r733. There is one bug that I am working with the developers to resolve. Posts in multiple categories are duplicated in the blog.
